CW Auto BackupWeb / PWA

Back up selected files safely

Select photos, videos, audio, documents, or other files. CW Auto Backup packages them into one portable backup that can be saved, shared, copied to a MacBook/Windows PC, or uploaded to your own storage.

Temporary iPhone backup option: this Web/PWA version is provided so iPhone users can make manual, selected-file backups now while the native CW Auto Backup iPhone app is being developed. The future iPhone app is planned to provide deeper device integration and more automation where iOS permits it.
Web/PWA limitation: browsers cannot continuously scan and back up your whole phone in the background. Open the app and select what you want to back up.

1. Select files

No files selected.

2. Backup security

Encryption uses AES-256-GCM with a key derived from your password using PBKDF2. Your password is never stored in backup history.

3. Create backup

Restore or inspect a backup

Open a .cwbackup file to verify, inspect, preview supported media, and extract individual files.

Backup history

History stores backup details only, not your backup password or file contents.

CW Auto Backup Web/PWA Help

Install on your phone or computer

Use your browser's “Add to Home Screen” or “Install app” option. Once installed, the app shell can open offline. Creating, restoring, and saving backups happens on your device.

Temporary iPhone backup option

This Web/PWA version is a temporary way for iPhone users to create manual backups while the native CW Auto Backup iPhone app is being developed. Backups created here use the same portable .cwbackup format intended for future CW Auto Backup apps and companions.

Back up to a MacBook now

Create the backup on your iPhone or other device, then tap Share / AirDrop. When file sharing is supported, choose AirDrop or another destination from the system share sheet. You can also save the file and move it through Files, iCloud Drive, USB, or another service you control.

Backup format

.cwbackup is CW Auto Backup's portable package. It contains an internal manifest plus your selected files. If password protection is enabled, the package payload is encrypted using AES-256-GCM. A separate SHA-256 checksum can be saved to verify that the package has not changed.

Important password warning

There is no password recovery for an encrypted local backup. Keep your backup password somewhere safe.

Future companions

The same package structure is intended for the future CW Auto Backup Windows and Mac companions, so backups created by the PWA can be carried forward.
